Luxembourg meets Israeli FinTech ecosystem
On the occasion of the official visit to Israel by Luxembourg's Prime Minister, Xavier Bettel, Luxembourg for Finance and The Floor, Tel Aviv’s FinTech incubator, held a seminar hosted within the impressive premises of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange with the aim to promote partnership opportunities between both FinTech hubs.
In his speech, Prime Minister Bettel highlighted the strong bonds that exist between Israel and Luxembourg in the ICT and media sectors and called for a strengthening of the cooperation between both countries in the financial technology space.
Avi Cohen, co-founder and CEO of The Floor, Israel's FinTech hub, welcomed the perspective of a closer partnership with Luxembourg and its thriving financial industry. Nicolas Mackel, CEO of Luxembourg for Finance, announced the imminent launch of the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (LHoFT) which will serve as Luxembourg's focal point for the global FinTech community.
A panel composed of Igal Bareket (Tel Aviv Exchange), Marc Robert-Nicoud (Clearstream), Ronen Kertis (Cappitech), Nicolas Buck (Seqvoia) and Paolo Brignardello (Fundsquare), discussed how stock exchanges and the mutual fund industry can ensure a successful digital transition and explored areas for potential partnerships.
The Luxembourg delegation, moreover, had an exchange with Israel's Chief Scientist, visited several FinTech innovation centers and met with Israel's most prominent start-ups and venture capitalists as well as its leading financial institutions.
