Belgium and Luxembourg start-ups and FinTech experts meet at Technoport
FinTech experts from Belgium and Luxembourg gathered at Technoport, a technology-oriented business incubator, to discover the FinTech ecosystems of Belgium and Luxembourg in a joint event organised by the Embassy of Belgium in Luxembourg and Luxembourg for Finance.
The conference was opened by Thomas Antoine, Ambassador of Belgium in Luxembourg, Pierre Gramegna, Luxembourg’s Minister of Finance, and Johan Van Overtveldt, Belgium’s Minister of Finance. It was attended by 29 speakers and more than 190 experts and practitioners. Multiple start-ups active in the fields of payments, compliance, digital investments, blockchain and more joined the panel discussions.
Nadia Manzari, Head of Innovation, Payments, Markets Infrastructures and Governance at the Luxembourg financial regulator (CSSF) discussed regulatory aspects with regard to FinTech, Luxembourg’s ability to adapt regulation to technology as well as the regulator’s commitment to provide start-ups with guidance, direct and fast communication.
Next panels provided insights into the latest drivers of change such as the accelerating pace of digital investments and robo-advisory, blockchain, compliance and innovation in payments.
The seminar showed that FinTech is high on the agenda of the governments of Belgium and Luxembourg and demonstrated the desire of the two countries to cooperate and strengthen the development of the Fintech industry.
