The second edition of FinTechStage Luxembourg, organised in cooperation with Luxembourg for Finance and Digital Luxembourg, once again brought some of the world's leading financial technology experts to Luxembourg to discuss emerging trends that will shape financial services. Around 400 participants attended the full-day event.

This year’s edition provided insights into where investments in FinTech are going and focused on hot topics such as artificial intelligence, digital identity and regulatory technology.

Interviewed on stage by FinTechStage co-founder Lázaro Campos, Minister of Finance, Pierre Gramegna discussed recent developments in Luxembourg. According to Minister Gramegna smart regulation is crucial to encourage the development of financial technology within a stable framework.

Thanks to an international financial sector ecosystem and a responsive regulator open to innovation, an increasing number of FinTech companies choose Luxembourg as their hub to develop services on a pan-European and international basis. Several UK-based financial technology companies are also in the process of setting up a regulated entity in Luxembourg to ensure that they can continue to serve clients in the EU.

The recent launch of the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (LHoFT), under the leadership of its CEO Nasir Zubairi, will further cement Luxembourg’s role as a global platform for financial technoloy.

FinTechStage also marked the occasion to officially launch the call for applications for the FinTech Awards Luxembourg 2017, organised by the LHoFT and KPMG Luxembourg.
