Luxembourg for Finance presents Luxembourg made solutions to Turkey
In the framework of the State visit by the HRH Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa to Turkey, Luxembourg for Finance hosted a financial seminar at Istanbul’s Çırağan Palace Kempinski gathering an audience of 200 financial and economic experts from Turkey.
Ties between Luxembourg and Turkey have grown closer over the past years. In this context, Luxembourg for Finance hosted a financial seminar jointly with the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Turkey-Luxembourg Business Forum’ on Thursday 21 November 2013 in Istanbul.
Under the headline ‘Solutions made in Luxembourg for Turkish investors and asset managers’ four leading CEO’s* from the Luxembourg financial market place served as ambassadors of the Grand Duchy’s ‘full service’ financial sector.
The panel, opened and moderated by Nicolas Mackel, CEO, Luxembourg for Finance, provided an insight view of Luxembourg being the Number 1 wealth management centre in the Eurozone, Luxembourg’s position as a key domicile for internationally distributed funds since 1988 and Luxembourg as a leader in international bond listings through the Luxembourg Stock Exchange since 1928.
Fouad Rathle, Director of Garanti Bank, the one and only Turkish Bank in Luxembourg, explained his experience of opening a Luxembourg branch in 1993 and how Luxembourg could be of interest to other Turkish banks.
The panel was complemented by a Turkish counterpart, Mrs Didem Gordon, Vice Chairman, Turkish Institutional Investment Manager’s Association (TKYD) underlining that ‘Luxembourg is a strong, high quality and well regulated platform for establishing a Turkish fund’.

The financial panel was concluded by a closing speech of Luc Frieden, Minister of Finance,
stressing the strong relationships between Luxembourg and Turkey.
