Luxembourg ranks 9th worldwide in latest Global Innovation Index
Luxembourg has climbed to the 9th place from 12th worldwide in the latest 2014 Global Innovation Index rankings published by a consortium of private and public organizations including Cornell University, INSEAD, and the World Intellectual Property Organization.
While Switzerland ranks first, Luxembourg's rise to the 9th place represents the most significant leap forward of any EU nation and of nearly all the 143 nations included in the annual survey.
The sectors of Business sophistication (rank 2), innovation output (rank 5), and creative outputs (rank 3) were the most performing.
Published annually since 2007, the GII 2014 survey uses 81 indicators to gauge both the innovation capabilities and measurable results for each nation.
The GII is now a leading benchmarking tool for business executives, policy makers and others seeking insight into the state of innovation around the world.
