Luxembourg welcomes international capital markets professionals at ICMA AGM and Conference
The 49th International Capital Market Association’s (ICMA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Conference was held this year from 3-5 May in Luxembourg.
Over 1000 international attendees participated in one of the most internationally respected events for the global debt capital markets, bringing together the global financial community to discuss market and regulatory developments in times of rapidly changing financial markets.
Keynote speakers at the flagship event included: Xavier Bettel, Luxembourg Prime Minister, Pierre Gramegna, Luxembourg Finance Minister, Yves Mersch, Member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank, Steven Maijoor, Chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), Werner Hoyer, President of the European Investment Bank and Kalin Anev Janse the ESM Secretary General.
Panel discussions and addresses were held by regulatory authorities, issuers, central banks, intermediaries, infrastructure providers and investors on topics such as the increasing risk of fragmentation of international capital
markets, the implementation of the post-crisis regulatory agenda, as well as the digitisation of trading and back office processes. The growing importance of sustainable finance was also on the agenda.
On this occasion, Luxembourg for Finance launched its brand-new Capital Markets brochure, which provides an insight in the multiple solutions offered by the Luxembourg financial centre. The publication can be downloaded here:
