HE Pierre Gramegna
Minister of Finance, Luxembourg

Following the legislative elections of 14 October 2018, Pierre Gramegna was re-appointed Minister of Finance in the coalition government formed by the Democratic Party (DP), the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP) and the Green Party (déi gréng). Pierre Gramegna first joined the government as Minister of Finance in 2013.
As Minister of Finance, Pierre Gramegna has initiated major reforms to balance the budget and to align Luxembourg’s tax rules with international transparency standards. Thanks to these efforts, Luxembourg’s AAA rating has been consistently confirmed by all major rating agencies and, in 2015, the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes upgraded Luxembourg to “largely compliant”. Pierre Gramegna is also a promoter of the diversification of Luxembourg’s financial centre, in particular with regard to FinTech and sustainable finance. He is the initiator and president of the LHoFT Foundation, which runs the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology. He has also further developed bilateral relations with China in the financial sector.
Pierre Gramegna puts particular emphasis on Luxembourg’s role in multilateral development banks. In 2014, Luxembourg became a member of the African Development Bank and, in 2015, Luxembourg was the first non-Asian country to join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. Currently, he is the chairman of the board of Governors of the AIIB. In May 2016, Pierre Gramegna was elected chair of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for a one-year mandate. He currently serves on the Board of Governors of the European Investment Bank and on that of the European Stability Mechanism. He is also Luxembourg’s governor to the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.
Pierre Gramegna studied law and economics at the Université Panthéon-Assas (Paris II), where he was awarded a master’s degree in civil law in 1981 and a degree in economic sciences in 1982. He completed his post-university education with a DEA (postgraduate diploma of advanced studies) in European Union law.
As a career diplomat, Pierre Gramegna joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1983. From 1996 to 2002, Pierre Gramegna was Luxembourg’s ambassador to Japan and South Korea. From 2003 to 2013, Pierre Gramegna held the position of Director General of the Chamber of Commerce.

Nicolas Mackel
CEO, Luxembourg for Finance

Nicolas Mackel is CEO of Luxembourg for Finance, the Agency for the Development of the Financial Centre, since July 2013.
Nicolas is a career diplomat. He has graduated with a law degree from the University of Aix-en-Provence, and holds two post-graduate diplomas in European law from the Sorbonne University, respectively the College of Europe in Bruges where he then also served as a teaching assistant in the Law Department. He worked as a legal clerk at the European Court of Justice before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1999. His assignments focused on the successive EU Treaty negotiations (Amsterdam, Nice, Constitution, Lisbon).
Nicolas was consecutively posted at Luxembourg’s Permanent Representation to the EU (2002-07), as Deputy Chief of Mission at Luxembourg’s Embassy in Washington DC (2007-11) and as Consul General in Shanghai (2011-13) where he was in charge of promoting Luxembourg’s economic interests throughout China as the Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office.

HE Paul Duhr
Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Italy

Paul Duhr was born in Luxembourg in 1956. After completing his secondary education at the Athénée grand-ducal in Luxembourg and in the United States, he received a Master’s degree in private law from the University of Aix-Marseille III before being admitted to the Luxembourg bar association.
He started his diplomatic career in February 1985 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Luxembourg as legation Attaché in the Directorate for Political Affairs, before being appointed Deputy Permanent Representative of Luxembourg to the Council of Europe from 1986 to 1989. In 1989, Paul Duhr also served as European correspondent. From 1990 to 1998, he served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Luxembourg to the United Nations, the World Trade Organisation and International Organizations in Geneva. In 1998, Mr Duhr was appointed Ambassador of Luxembourg to Portugal, where he stayed until 2003 before becoming Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Luxembourg to the Western European Union, and Representative to the European Union’s Political and Security Committee. In 2007, he became Minister Plenipotentiary in ordinary service and Secretary General of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Immigration. He was also accredited as non-resident Ambassador to the Holy See. In 2012 he was appointed Ambassador of Luxembourg to France, Permanent Representative to the OECD and Permanent Delegate to the UNESCO.
Ambassador Paul Duhr took up his duties as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Italy on 21st September 2017. He has also been appointed as Permanent Representative of Luxembourg to the UN International Organisations based in Rome (FAO, IFAD, and WFP).

Flavio Bonomo

Flavio Bonomo has more than 25 years of experience in banking, of which 18 in Wealth Management. He holds a Master in Private Banking (University of Turin – European School of Finance) and is a certified European Financial Advisor since 2008.
Flavio is now managing international projects for UniCredit Group Wealth Management, working between Milan and Luxembourg.
He started his experience in Luxembourg at UniCredit Luxembourg in 2013 as Head of Products and Head of Private Banking and then General Manager and Board Member at UniCredit International Bank.
Before Luxembourg, he had a varied career in Italy, first at CariVerona Banca and then at UniCredit Private Banking. He spent some years at UniCredit Corporate Banking, at UniCredit Private Banking Division covering Italy, Germany, Austria and Poland and took part in the establishment of Group Strategic Marketing.

Philippe Burdeyron
Deputy CEO, Wealins

Graduated from INSEEC Paris, Philippe Burdeyron joined La Mondiale Europartner Luxembourg (AG2R La Mondiale) in 2000 as Sales Director.
He managed the development of the French, Italian and UK markets. Appointed Deputy CEO in 2011, he was in charge of the Sales, Product & Wealth Planning and Marketing & Communication Departments until April 2019.
He then joined Wealins (Foyer Group) in June 2019 as Deputy CEO in charge of sales team over 12 European markets, sale support, wealth planning and marketing & communication departments.

Cesare Buzzi-Ferraris
Managing Director, Head of Italy, SwanCap
Prior to joining SwanCap, Cesare was UniCredit’s Head of Principal Investments Italy, originating and executing direct and indirect private equity investments. He joined the Principal Investment group after heading the Corporate Finance and Advisory Italy practice of UniCredit for 6 years where he worked on a large number of M&A and capital markets transactions. Before joining UniCredit, Cesare worked for Banca Commerciale Italiana in the Equity Capital Markets group.
Cesare holds a MS in Finance from London Business School and a degree in Economics from Università Cattolica, Milan.

Chiara Caprioli
Senior Business Development Manager, Luxembourg Stock Exchange

Chiara Caprioli is Senior Business Development Manager and Sustainable Finance Expert at the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
With long-standing experience in business development, capital markets and sustainable finance, she specialises in the listing of debt securities, with particular focus on sustainable fixed-income products. Chiara managed the launch of the Luxembourg Green Exchange, the first ever platform entirely dedicated to the listing and trading of green and sustainable securities around criteria of enhanced transparency and disclosure in September 2016, and is currently in charge of expanding the group’s international recognition and client base around listing and data services for sustainable products. She also acts as a Lecturer within the LGX Academy.
As a graduate in International and Diplomatic Relations from the University of Trieste and Erasmus student at the KEDGE business school in Bordeaux, Chiara is also certified in Primary Markets by the International Capital Markets Association (ICMA) as well as Certified Sustainable Finance Expert by the Frankfurt School of Finance. She is also actively involved in various industry committees and working groups in the field of sustainable finance.

Sandrine Chabrerie
Head of EU Affairs, Luxembourg Insurance and Reinsurance Association (ACA)

A lawyer by training, Sandrine Chabrerie worked at AXA Luxembourg for 18 years where she held various positions in the legal department and then in product management before becoming Head of customer service teams. Sandrine joined ACA in 2015 where she is responsible for the activities of the International Life Commission and its working groups.

Eduardo Gramuglia
Senior Vice President and Country Head

Eduardo Gramuglia Pallavicino, Senior Vice President and Country Head of State Street in Luxembourg, is responsible for the business strategy and governance. Prior to his current role, he was responsible for business development, relationship management, client onboarding and change. He was an authorised manager and a member of the State Street Bank Luxembourg management board.
Previously, Eduardo held several senior management roles at ABN Amro Mellon and Brown Brothers Harriman in Luxembourg, where he was head of sales and relationship management. Eduardo has over 20 years of experience in the asset servicing and capital markets industry, including experience within custody, client services, securities lending and foreign exchange, relationship management and operations management. He also had general management responsibilities, including oversight of central administration for Luxembourg funds.
Eduardo is an active member of the Association of Luxembourg Funds Industry (ALFI) and contributes to the work of several of its working groups. He received a degree in political sciences from the University La Sapienza in Rome, Italy and speaks Spanish, Italian, French and English.

Emanuele Grippo

Emanuele Grippo specialises in investment services, asset management, pension funds, securities regulation and structured finance transactions as well as in extraordinary corporate transactions involving regulated companies, including those acting in the insurance sector and the banking and financial sectors.
He is known for his strong expertise in insurance contractual and commercial law, review of insurance policies and the regulatory aspects of insurance activities. He also provides advice and assistance to listed issuers in relation to their on-going duties, including disclosure requirements and treatment of price sensitive information, advising also on money laundering legislation.
Emanuele is the Head of the firm’s Luxembourg desk.

Marc Hengen
CEO, Luxembourg Insurance and Reinsurance Association (ACA)

Marc Hengen has been the Managing Director of ACA since March 2013. After 18 years of experience in the Luxembourgish insurance sector, he joined the Executive Committee of ACA in 2010. He is also a member of both the Executive Committee of UEL (Union des Entreprises Luxembourgeoises) and the Executive Committee of IE (Insurance Europe), as well as Secretary General of AGERE (Association des gestionnaires d’entreprises de réassurances).
Marc Hengen has a Master’s Degree in Law from the Robert Schuman University of Strasbourg.

Luca Lazzati

Luca Lazzati joined the Luxembourg subsidiary of Intesa San Paolo group in 2001 where he worked in the wealth engineering and fiduciary services. In 2006 he joined the wealth engineering desk of the Private Banking of Société Générale Luxembourg.
In 2017 he was appointed as Deputy Head of the International Markets, a team of multilingual and highly skilled Private Bankers and Client Servicing Officers dealing with International Private Clients, with a specific focus on HNWI and UHNWI segments and is now also in charge of the Italian Market.
Luca has a Degree in Business Administration Università Luigi Bocconi, Milan, Italy.

Thierry Lesage
Partner, Arendt & Medernach

Thierry Lesage is a Partner in the Tax Law practice of Arendt & Medernach. He advises on both national and international tax issues. He is active on private equity, real estate and finance transactions.
He is a member of the Luxembourg Bar, the American Bar Association, the International Bar Association and the International Fiscal Association where he was appointed as national co-reporter for the 2003, 2005 and 2014 Congresses. Moreover, he is Vice-Chair of the fiscal commission of the Luxembourg Bankers’ Association.
Prior to joining Arendt & Medernach, he worked as a tax manager with one of the Big Four firms and as head of the corporate tax department with a bank in Luxembourg.
Thierry Lesage holds a Master’s degree in law from the Université de Liège (Belgium) as well as a Master’s degree in fiscal law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium).
He is the co-author of the Luxembourg chapter of the International Guide to the Taxation of Holding Companies published by the IBFD (Amsterdam).
Thierry Lesage is recommended as tax lawyer in the major league tables including Best Lawyers, Legal 500 and Chambers Europe.

François Lucchini

François Lucchini is Director of Asset Management and a member of the Executive Committee of Cardif Lux Vie.
Civil Engineer from ESTP and graduate of the Advanced Master in Financial Techniques from ESSEC, François Lucchini began his career in 2002 at Nato Vie. In 2005 he joined BNP Paribas Cardif, where he worked in a broad range of asset classes (equity, fixed income, private equity and structured products), developing his generalist skills as part of the management of general funds and collective pension savings. He also brought his expertise to M&A projects and ALM studies. With this background, he joined Cardif Lux Vie in 2012 as Head of Asset Management, tasked with implementing the company’s proprietary asset management platform. He works with a diverse team of asset managers with proficiency across all asset classes.
At Cardif Lux Vie, the role of asset management is important and strategic. In 2018, the company had a total €25.3 billion in assets under management, including more than €9 billion in its General Fund (Fonds Général) managed by François Lucchini’s team from Luxembourg.
He also participated at several presentations to Vie Private Banking Partners and round tables addressing asset management topics in life insurance context.

Massimoluca Mattioli
Senior Executive Officer and Director, Banque Havilland

Massimoluca graduated with honours from Bocconi University as Master of Science in Monetary and Financial Economics and has been awarded the Certificate in Corporate Governance from INSEAD (IDP-C).
He currently acts as Non-executive Director at Octium Life DAC (Dublin), Senior Executive Officer at Banque Havilland Luxembourg, and Chairperson at Strategic Investment Fund Sicav (Luxembourg). His experience in the financial services industry covers capital markets, corporate and investment banking, asset and wealth management, leasing and factoring. He served in French, German, English, Italian, Luxembourg and Irish operations such as banks (including listed), asset management company, investment vehicles and insurance. He developed skills in strategy and planning, governance, business development, finance, credit, risk management, reporting, accounting, balance-sheet and investor relations.
His board room experience includes performing as CFO, General Manager, CEO, Director and Chairperson; in such roles he has been from time to time authorised by Italian, Luxembourg and Irish supervising authorities.

Francesca Messini

Francesca Messini is a Director within Deloitte Advisory & Consulting. She has specialised over the last twelve years in strategy and regulatory advisory, in particular in setting up financial institutions, as well as acquisition projects, from the strategy definition through the authorisation process, until the full implementation of operations.
Francesca has built a solid and extensive regulatory & operational background, with strong experience in financial institutions set up, investment management, acquisition transformation and key regulatory frameworks such as UCITS, AIFMD, corporate governance, EMIR, risk management, banking authorisation and qualifying holding file.
She is the project and team leader of multiple projects in parallel at the intersection of strategy, regulatory constraints and operations while combining an understanding of the methodologies with close attention to deadlines, cross-functional dependencies, budgets, priorities and cultural aspects.
Francesca graduated from the University of Perugia in Italy and is a certified Financial Risk Manager from GARP.

Fabio Morvilli
Chairman, Camera di Commercio Italo-Lussemburghese

Fabio Morvilli is the Chairman of the “Camera di Commercio Italo-Lussemburghese”. He has dual nationality, Italian and Luxembourgish.
He graduated in Economics and Commerce and, subsequently, in Political Sciences from the University La Sapienza of Rome. Fabio lives since 1982 in Luxembourg, he has spent his first 20 years in Luxembourg at the head of the holding and financing company of the most important Italian telecommunications company and from 2006 to 2017 leading Polcevera, the second largest shareholder of Erg S.P.A.
Moreover, he has been and still is Director of banks, investment funds and Luxembourgish companies operating in the financial, commercial and in the real estate business. Fabio is also the Chairman of the Belgian-Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bruxelles, Deputy Chairman of the Italian-Irish Chamber of Commerce in Dublin and Honorary Consul of the Republic of San Marino in Luxembourg.

Alex Panican
Deputy CEO, Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (The LHoFT)

Alex Panican is a serial entrepreneur with more than 15 years of experience in Business Strategy, Digital Transformation and Innovation. He’s the Deputy CEO of the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (The LHoFT), where he’s supporting the innovation partnerships between the fintechs and the financial actors.
Alex is also a professor in Business Strategy and Digital Marketing. He holds an MBA in Strategy from the University of Quebec in Montreal, Canada. The LHoFT aims to drive digitalisation and innovation in the Luxembourg financial industry and build a collaborative ecosystem of innovators across all sectors of the domestic and international community, including fintech, traditional financial services firms, government, regulators, universities, and investors.

Katia Panichi
Partner, Elvinger Hoss Prussen

Katia Panichi is a partner of Elvinger Hoss Prussen in Luxembourg. Her principal fields of activity are corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, finance, structured finance and securitisation, investment funds and investment companies.
From July 2012 to December 2015 Katia headed the Asian operations in the Hong Kong office of Elvinger Hoss Prussen.
She graduated from the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and holds an LLM in international business, trade and tax law from King’s college, London. She is member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the LPEA (Luxembourg Private Equity and Venture Capital Association) and was Legal Committee co-Leader of the LPEA. She was also a member of the Conseil de l’Ordre from September 2009 to September 2011. Finally, she is member of the Luxembourg Bar since 1999.

Niccolo Polli
CEO, HSBC Luxembourg

Niccolo Polli was appointed Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Luxembourg in December 2018 and is responsible for all of HSBC’s operations covering Private Banking and Wealth Management, Security Services, Corporate Banking and Cash and Liquidity Management.
Niccolo joined HSBC as an International Manager in 2011 and worked in a variety of roles, including Head of Strategy UK and Chief of Staff to the UK CEO, Deputy to the Head of Global Business Banking and most recently Head of Strategy Europe International, with Armenia, Belgium, Czech Republic and Poland CEOs directly reporting to him.
Prior to joining HSBC, Niccolo had a varied career in finance in the USA, UK, France and Italy before becoming CEO Italy for a large London-based alternative investment management firm.
Niccolo holds a BSc from Stanford and an MBA from INSEAD.

Camille Thommes
Director General, Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI)

Camille Thommes is the Director General of ALFI, the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry. He joined the association back in 2007.
Before joining ALFI, Camille Thommes was in in charge of the Investment Fund Department at the State and Savings Bank, Luxembourg (BCEE) from 2001-2006, after holding various senior positions in the Securities & Custody department since 1993. He started his professional career in 1986 at BGL (now BGL-BNP Paribas) where he held positions in the Securities and Custody Divisions.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Luxembourg Supervisory Authority (CSSF) and a member of the Consultative Committee for Prudential Regulation. Camille is also a member of the High-Level Committee of the Financial Centre set up by the Ministry of Finance and a Board member of the Luxembourg Financial Industry Federation (PROFIL S.A.). Furthermore, he represents ALFI at the Board of Directors of the European Fund and Asset Management association (EFAMA) and is a Board member of IIFA (International Investment Funds Association). In addition, he is a member of the Advisory Board of the Department of Finance of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (University of Luxembourg).
Camille holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg (France), completed the Accelerated Development Program at the London Business School and accomplished traineeships in London and New York.
A Luxembourg native, Camille is fluent in English, French, German and Luxembourgish.

Enrico Turchi
Conducting Officer & Deputy CEO, Amundi Luxembourg

Enrico Turchi is Conducting Officer for Amundi Luxembourg S.A., where he also sits in the Board of Directors and acts as Deputy CEO.
Enrico Turchi has 29 years’ international experience in the financial industry of which the last 18 spent in asset management in Luxembourg. Prior to these assignments he covered COO/CFO positions in UniCredit branches in London, where he was also a member of the Board of Trustees of the company pension scheme, and in Hong Kong.
He holds an INSEAD Certificate in Corporate Governance and he is an ILA Certified Director since 2015. Enrico sits on the Board of a number of Luxembourg SICAV, mostly associated with Amundi. He is active in a number of ALFI working groups and other industry forums.
Amundi is the largest European asset manager by AuM and ranks in the top 10th globally. It manages, as of 30.06.2021, 1.794 trillion Euros. Amundi employs 4,800 investment professionals in more than 35 countries.

Jurgen Vanhoenacker
Executive Director, Lombard International Assurance

Jurgen Vanhoenacker joined Lombard International Assurance 19 years ago and has held several senior roles, including the role of Client Services Executive Director, before his appointment as Executive Sales Director in 2010. Prior to joining Lombard International Assurance, Mr Vanhoenacker worked 3 years for PwC Management Consultants Luxembourg and 3 years for Banque Indosuez (now Credit Agricole).
He holds a Masters in Economics, a Masters in Business Administration and a PhD in Applied Economics (University of Leuven, Belgium). Mr Vanhoenacker has made a major contribution to Lombard International Assurance’s development over the years and has vast knowledge of its business, markets and distribution channels.
