Banking Circle obtains CASP licence and launches stablecoin settlement services

Banking Circle S.A. announced that on April 15, 2026, it obtained its Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) licence from the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), a key milestone in its expansion into digital assets. “Obtaining our CASP licence is an important milestone for Banking Circle, as well as for the payments ecosystem as a whole. Stablecoins have rapidly moved from being a peripheral innovation to becoming core infrastructure for cross-border settlement, treasury management, and financial inclusion,” said Laust Bertelsen, CEO of Banking Circle.

With this new licence in hand, the bank is launching a stablecoin settlement offering that allows its clients to instantly convert between fiat currencies and stablecoins, with full regulatory traceability. The global stablecoin market currently represents around €250 billion in market capitalization, driven by growing institutional demand.

Established in Luxembourg since 2017 and holding a banking licence since 2020, Banking Circle has become, with this CASP licence, the first institution in the Grand Duchy to hold a banking licence, an e-money token (EMT) issuer licence, and a crypto-asset service provider licence simultaneously.
