  • The Financial Centre
Bitstamp, the cryptocurrency exchange headquartered in Luxembourg, has become the first in the country to receive authorisation as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. The license was granted by Luxembourg’s financial regulator, the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF).

With the CASP license Bitstamp is now authorised to offer crypto trading services, execute orders on behalf of clients, and provide crypto custody solutions across the European Union.

This marks another regulatory milestone for Bitstamp in Luxembourg. In 2016, it was the first crypto exchange in the EU to be granted a payment institution license.
