This consoldiation strengthens Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Luxembourg’s position as a European center of expertise in CIB activities and underlines Luxembourg’s role as a hub for corporate banking in the EU, as further evidenced by the recent arrival of new non-EU banks in Luxembourg, notably from the US, UK and Brasil. The Luxembourg bank led by Massimo Torchiana has specialized in offering banking and financial services to international corporate clients of the transalpine banking group.
After the absorption of the Irish entity, Intesa Sanpaolo will be one the largest banks in the Luxembourg financial center. Intesa Sanpaolo Group is moreover one of the ten largest banks in Europe by market capitalisation.
