The licence gives bitFlyer Europe passporting rights to offer crypto-asset services across all 27 EU member states from its Luxembourg base, covering the buying, selling and trading of crypto-assets and custody services for retail and institutional clients.
Yuzo Kano, Representative Director and CEO of bitFlyer Holdings, said: “I am proud that our Group has obtained a formal license under MiCA, the EU’s unified regulatory framework and one regarded as the strictest in the world. This shows that the approach to regulatory compliance and security we have cultivated in Japan holds up with European regulators as well.”
